THK HSR Series Global Standard Full-Ball LM Guide
The THK HSR Series is a full-ball LM Guide built to a global standard size. Each row of balls sits at a 45° contact angle, keeping load ratings even across four directions, radial, reverse-radial, and lateral, so the guide can be mounted in any orientation. Balls roll through four rows of precision-ground raceways on the LM rail and LM block. End plates inside the block let the balls circulate, while retainer plates hold them in place so they don’t fall out even if the block is removed from the rail (except on the smallest HSR 8, 10, and 12 models).
Since the balls are well balanced across four rows, the HSR Series can take on a large preload, raising rigidity in all four directions. This also gives it high durability, since balls don’t experience differential slip even under preload or an uneven load, allowing for smooth motion and long-term accuracy.
The HSR Series also uses THK’s self-adjustment capability. A front-to-front arrangement of circular-arc grooves lets it absorb mounting errors even under preload, keeping motion accurate and smooth. There are 16 model variants across this series, covering flanged and non-flanged types, standard, short, and long block options, and various bolt mounting configurations. Sizes range from 8 to 150. Basic dynamic load ratings run from 0.85 kN to 518 kN, and basic static load ratings run from 1.24 kN to 728 kN, depending on the model. A stainless steel version is also available, with the LM block, LM rail, and balls all made of stainless steel.
