THK GLM-AP Series Linear Motor Actuator

The THK GLM-AP Series Linear Motor Actuator is a semi-custom actuator designed for high-speed, long-stroke linear motion. It uses a linear motor drive, which removes the need for a belt and belt tension adjustment. This helps simplify the system and reduce maintenance work.

The GLM-AP is available with absolute or scaleless positioning. The scaleless option uses THK’s TPS magnetic sensor, so a linear encoder is not required. This can help reduce actuator cost while maintaining positioning repeatability of ±10 μm.

The series includes GLM15AP and GLM20AP models with one or two sliders. Maximum speeds are up to 3,000 mm/s for GLM15AP and 4,000 mm/s for GLM20AP. Stroke options extend up to 2,650 mm, depending on the model and slider configuration.
