Pick and Place Robots (PPR)
The THK PPR Pick & Place Robot is an all-in-one, process-optimizing robot designed specifically for high-precision pick-and-place applications. Unlike conventional systems that rely on multiple external components, the PPR integrates the drive mechanism, sensors, pneumatic devices, and control module into a single compact unit. This integrated architecture significantly reduces communication delays, enabling faster cycle times while improving overall system reliability.
A key feature of the PPR is THK’s proprietary force-sensing technology, which detects contact between the nozzle and workpiece at forces as low as 0.15 N and instantly stops motion through high-speed feedback control. This limits impact force to 0.3 N or less, dramatically reducing workpiece damage while maintaining high-speed operation. As a result, the PPR is especially suitable for handling fragile or precision components.
The robot also provides process visualization and data logging through dedicated monitoring software, allowing users to track force, pressure, flow rate, and position data for every pick-and-place cycle. Sensor data can be recorded at high sampling rates and reviewed before and after alarms, supporting root-cause analysis and quality stabilization on the production floor.
With its compact design, integrated control, and reduced need for peripheral equipment, the PPR simplifies system design and shortens setup time. It is ideal for automated production environments where high throughput, gentle handling, and process transparency are critical, such as electronics assembly, semiconductor handling, and precision component manufacturing.
